LIMITED EDITION Woodbridge Fingering Silver - Peaceful Sunrise

LIMITED EDITION Woodbridge Fingering Silver - Peaceful Sunrise

This gradient colourway is limited edition - it will only come out twice a year in limited quantities and cannot be special ordered. It was created in memory of my dad, who passed away peacefully at sunrise on January 26, 2023. His birthday was May 5, 1945, so these anniversaries are the dates they will be released.

The Woodbridge Fingering Silver base is only available for this first anniversary of his passing.

Each purchase of this colourway will have a $10 donation from Numana Yarns to Sherwood Care, which took excellent care of him in his final years. This donation will be matched by my mom - you may have met her in the shop or at shows!

80% Superwash Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Silver Stellina. 115 grams/384 meters.

Woodbridge Fingering Silver is super soft and has the added shine of a silvery strand of Stellina, to make your project even more special. Wash by hand, lay flat to dry.

Gradient colourway when worked up. The colour gradually shifts between each colour (no abrupt change). Please note that the camera does not adequately pick up the beautiful sparkle in this yarn!

  • Colourway is GRADIENT when worked up.
This colourway was designed by my youngest daughter, who has Tourette Syndrome. The name One Hundred Nine is her favourite number and was also one of her most predominant verbal tics when she was younger. A donation of $3.00 from the sale of each skein will be given to Tourette Canada at the end of each year.

Need a larger quantity of yarn for a big project and we don't have enough stock? Place an order for the quantity you need and we will dye your skeins together. Dyed to order items can take 4-6 weeks to dye and ship, although we do try to get them done as quickly as possible. If you have also purchased ready-to-ship items, they will be held until your dyed to order items are ready.

In order to rotate through different colours on most of our bases, we have decided that some colours will only be offered while supplies last. These are marked as Limited Edition.

We will offer Dyed to Order in these colourway/base combinations until we have just a couple of skeins left, in case you need a sweater quantity. Once they are gone though, they may not come back, so grab them while you can!  Placing a custom order (multiples of four) will remain available.

Colours that are not labelled Limited Edition will be restocked as usual.

Handwashing with a small amount of gentle handwashing liquid in cool to cold water is recommended to keep your items looking their best:

  • Add the handwashing liquid to cool water and gently mix
  • Add your item, gently swish it in the wash
  • Allow to sit for 15 minutes
  • Drain wash, and rinse in cold water if desired (some handwashing liquid, such as Soak, doses not need to be rinsed
  • Do not wring excess water out, instead, gently squeeze to get most of the water out and then roll in a towel to remove more
  • Block your item if desired.

Superwash can go in the laundry machines, but will hold up better with hand washing.

We do our best to remove any excess dyes, however, our washing conditions and yours may differ. If you are worried about colour bleeding, here's what you need to know:

  • Animal fibres, nylon, and silk is dyed using hot water and an acid .
  • Dyes have varying levels of colorfastness. Some colours such as turquoise, reds, and hot pinks/purples are known to be troublesome.
  • The heat helps to move the dye, the acid helps to lock the dye in place.
  • if your wash is too warm and/or too alkaline, some dye may break it's bond with the fibre and release into the water.
  • Cool to cold water helps prevent this, but adding an acid (we recommend a generous pouring of vinegar, about 1/4 cup for a bathroom sink sized wash) will really help to keep it in place.
  • If you are concerned about how colour work will be affected, you can wash the skein with your usual method before using it to be sure. Untwist the skein, tie a contrasting string around the loop to hold it (or use a zip tie or shower curtain ring), and wash, holding the loop to keep the yarn controlled. If you notice no bleeding, you are good to go. If you notice some, repeat the wash with vinegar added to the wash and rinse to see what happens.

Store your yarn in a place where animals and bugs cannot get to it, and away from sunlight, which over time may fade some colours.
